Media Technologies/Audio Production Engineering Concentration, A.A.S.

Students working with audio technology

The Audio Production Engineering concentration educates students in the art of audio engineering and production by utilizing the skills and knowledge used in music production, post-production, broadcast, live sound and field recording using commercially popular equipment and software. Basic and advanced training in acoustics, studio recording, location recording, editing, mixing, live sound mixing, producing, sound design, media management and logistics management are covered. Course content includes five avenues of audio production: recording, broadcast, sound design, live sound and production management.

Media Technologies/Design for Web and Print Concentration, A.A.S.

The Design for Web and Print curriculum offers students hands-on experience in both graphic design and web design. Students learn the principles and elements of design and use the latest graphics software and web authoring and scripting languages to create complex visual communication. Some courses are offered online, and most are offered in the classroom, enabling students to choose the course delivery method best suited to their learning style.

Media Technologies/Photography Concentration, A.A.S.

The Photography concentration is designed to give students a balanced, practical foundation for entering the profession in the digital age. All of the facilities are digital, with industry-standard tools incorporated into the course material. Students are shown the tools and techniques needed to build a foundation for nearly any photography career. Camera mastery, studio portrait and still life lighting, photojournalism, and digital imaging are among the skills developed. Learning these core skill sets allows the aspiring photographers the ability to express themselves more creatively and communicate more effectively through their photography.

Media Technologies/Video Production Technology Concentration, A.A.S.

Animation option focuses on skills and knowledge required to succeed in the competitive fields of animation, motion graphics, visual effects and visualization. The curriculum begins by building an understanding of the history, major terms, concepts and techniques of animation. Industry-standard software and equipment are used to cover basic principles and progress through advanced tools and workflows used by studios for broadcast, film, visualization and game design. Typical job opportunities are 2D animator, 3D animator, modeler, concept artist, motion graphics designer, visual development artist, storyboard artist, environment design artist and visual effects artist.

Video Production

Video Production option focuses on skills and knowledge needed in a broadcast studio and on location using commercially popular equipment and software. Basic and advanced training in scriptwriting, audio recording and mixing, electronic cinematography and lighting, producing, directing, budgeting and editing are covered. Course content includes three phases of digital production. Typical job opportunities are videographer, editor, video illustrator and production assistant.

The Web Technology curriculum offers hands-on experience in designing webpages and developing websites. Students develop and maintain websites using authoring and scripting languages, create content and digital media, manage and deploy e-business solutions servers and maintain websites for small- to large-scale enterprises. Some courses are delivered completely online, and many courses are taught in the classroom as well, enabling students to choose the course delivery method best suited to their learning style.
